J/24 Midwinters and Canadian Pan American Games Qualifier

The J/24 Midwinters finished their first day of racing today in fluky light winds.  Peter Bream is leading, followed closely by John Mollicone/Tim Healy and Canadian Rossi Milev.  This regatta also acts as the qualifier for the Canadian team that will represent Canada at the Pan American Games in Mexico later this year.  Rossi Milev, who I would choose as the favourite, is leading the 3 Canadian boats that have decided to make the pilgrimage to Tampa. It’s a huge venture to represent Canada at the Pan-Ams. Canada does not financially support our J/24 athletes that will be going to Mexico. Sailing Canada estimates the cost to be roughly 3500$ per individual.
